NorthWest Uniting Church is a new congregation at Rouse Hill in the North West sector of Sydney committed to ‘Building Communities of Care and Hope.’ It is our desire to share the message of Jesus Christ in a way that is true to the Bible and at the same time true to the times that we live in. In other words we do not tamper with the message, just the package that it comes in.

Our Mission Statement is:

‘… to develop a people of authentic faith encouraged and equipped to share the love of Christ with openness and compassion to all people.'

“If all the people who fell asleep in church on Sunday morning were laid out end to end, they would be a great deal more comfortable.” – Abraham Lincoln

Too often the church is pictured as something not very appealing. The story goes that a father was showing his young son around the church building one day and the little boy asked, “Daddy, what are all those big things on the walls?” “Oh,” said dad, “those are the memorials for those that died in the services.” The little boy thought for a moment and then asked his father, “Was that in the morning services or the evening services?”

An older person once asked me why her children no longer attended church. I responded with a question of my own; “What reason do your children give for not attending church?” “Well,” said my friend, “They say that church is boring.” She was a little miffed when I said, “I agree with your children.”

I am one of those strange people trying hard to dispel the myth of the church being the most boring place on earth! Over the next couple of months I want to look at a new series called – “But What Can I Do?”

I am committed to transforming church from a spectator sport to one where people come down out of the stands and get into the game. A church like that will never be boring.
